We asked our students:
What were you looking for before you first learnt NLP? Did you have a problem or a question? Was it an inner journey of self-discovery, or did you want to understand others? We're intrigued by the routes that start different people off on the same journey.
For me, it was a mix of both. My interest started as wanting to understand others more, improve communication etc but when I actually signed up for it, the timing coincided with me being utterly miserable and wanting to escape a job I hated.
I think the two things are so interlinked anyway.... self-discovery is part of understanding others....if you understand yourself, you can start to understand how others may be the same or different.
Mix of both for me. I was stuck in a rut. Knew I wanted to make a change, but felt trapped as a wage-slave. Never dreamt I could escape, but I did it! Living the dream - it continues. :-)
Both inner and outer, wanted to learn more about what makes us tick!
For me personally I have learned a lot about myself and how to communicate effectively and simply with people in my life (as well as my unconscious mind). As a result I am a much better Project Manager in my professional life and a better Dad, husband and friend in my personal life.
Our students all agree that whatever their original motivation to study NLP, they always get something more than they expected. The benefits spread out into all areas of your life, as you learn to harness your brain and your body to be the best you can be in every way.
What would motivate you to learn more about how your brain works, and how to make the best of it?
If you'd like to learn more about setting goals and "Away From" and "Towards" motivation, why not join us for a 2-Day Introduction to NLP, or our NLP Practitioner Course. Learn more here.
