Start the YEAR with an Empowering Belief - we've chosen this one to kick off 2017 because it will help to set you up for whatever you want to achieve in the year ahead.
When you choose a focus, a goal or an outcome, and put your attention on it you will also direct your energy in that direction. It's extraordinary how setting a goal tends to create a chain reaction of events that unfold to help you towards achieving that goal.
Whether you choose to attribute it to the Law of Attraction, or whether you recognise the role of the Reticular Activating System in your brain to help you pay attention to your goals, this Empowering Belief is a great one to remember.
You know when you have just read a new book, or bought a new car, and then it seems as though everyone else is reading the same book, or driving the same car? It's just your brain paying particular attention to whatever you're interested in.
It's actually a part of your brain called the Reticular Activating System (or RAS) that is responsible for this, and when you see your goal in your mind's eye, when you really think about it and bring it alive, then you are programming this part of your brain to start noticing opportunities that will help you to achieve your goal.
The more you do this, the more you'll notice things around you that are related to achieving you goal. In this way, you'll get more of what you focus on. That's why it's so important to focus on what you DO want.
There is a flip side, that if you focus your attention on negatives, such as austerity, pain, anger etc. then your energy will go into those things too. Have you ever heard the saying "What you resist, persists". If you focus on what you don't want, for example doughnuts and fried food, then your brain will pay particular attention to doughnuts and fried food, and trust me, you'll start seeing them everywhere! It's a sure-fire way to sabotage your goal before you've even started.
So put your attention on what you DO WANT (not what you don't want). And when you say your goal, say it the way you want it. Put your attention on it, and allow your energy to flow towards your goal.
